Power Season 6: Wine & Spirit Pairings For Watching The Show
Power is back on Starz for its final season with the theme being “Final Betrayal”. Season 6 picks up with James “Ghost” St. Patrick seeking vengeance. His former drug partner and brother, Tommy, must pay for killing the love of his life. It’s the ultimate betrayal or is it. It’s all a hot mess right now. The biggest problem between Ghost and Tommy is their horrible communication not to mention their egos are always getting in the way.
Are you Team Ghost or Team Tommy? I have to admit that I’m torn. While it’s fun to watch them try to up each other, I’d rather see them work together to take down Jason, Dre, and anyone who gets in their way.
May sure you have a libation as you watch the show. Below are some of my picks to sip for the characters. Always take a swig when someone is shot or shot at. The body count is growing this season. Cheers the last man or woman standing!
Tommy- Hennessy XO
As usual Tommy is out of control. Always doing the most with his crew of misfits. He has every reason to be mad at Ghost, but one day he will have to admit that things were smoother when Ghost was around. The only question is when will he get tired of Jason pushing him around. Henny XO suits Tommy very well.
Tariq- Lambay Small Batch Blend Whiskey
The kid that everybody loves to hate. He is quickly following in his father’s drug footsteps as he sells drugs at his prestigious school. At the rate he’s going, Ghost and Tasha are going to have to borrow money from him. Riq would be a Lambay Whiskey drinker. A small batch whiskey from Ireland finished in a Cognac cask that’s a little bit spicy with a touch of sweet.
LaKeisha- La Vieille Ferme Rosé
All of a sudden Keisha is getting all confident with being in the drug and killing game. Now you know she doesn’t really know what the hell she’s doing. When she messes up, she will be begging Tasha to help her out. This lady has La Vielle Ferme Rosé written all over her. An affordaDomaine Paul Buisse Crémant de Loireble wine, yet oh so chic.
Finally we are seeing Tasha get some chutzpah. Not gonna lie, it’s fun when she puts Ghost in his place. In the last episode we see that Tasha has gone from penthouse to a modest apartment. That being said, since she still has Champagne dreams, now she would have to go with Crémant de Loire.
Ghost- Johnnie Walker Blue Label
He’s finally getting some of the karma that he deserves. Ghost was all about himself and didn’t think about any of the consequences now he’s alone and wallowing in self-pity. Them’s the breaks mofo. However, he is smart enough to get himself out of this current situation. A neat Johnnie Walker Blue Label would be in his glass as he plots revenge..
Cooper Saxe- Cherry Noir Grey Goose (neat or on the rocks)
I don’t know about you, but Saxe is getting on my last nerve. He acts like he is all high and mighty but he’s just as shady as everyone else. All he does is slither around to cause trouble. I have a feeling that he will get what’s coming to him. I see him being a vodka guy, Grey Goose to be except. Get loose with the Goose.
Joe Proctor- Cecchi Coevo Toscana
Proving to be a real ride or die, Proctor is the man. So far he has remained loyal AF. It will be interesting to see if he flips on Ghost or Tommy in the end. Proctor looks like a Italiian red wine guy. The Cecchi Coevo has aromas of black fruit and smoke. It’s elegant and full of style.
