Pompette Notes: Stella Artois

When I hear the name Stella it always makes be think of Marlon Brando in a Streetcar Named Desire yelling the name. Then another Stella comes to mind.

Most people have heard of Stella Artois, it’s kind of an icon in the beer world. It was first introduced in 1926 as a beer for Christmas festivities. It’s named after the Christmas star, Stella means “star” in Latin. The pilsner style beer is brewed in Leuven, Belgium.

Brewer tasting notes:
A pleasantly bitter hoppiness and refreshing crisp finish with a distinct pale golden color.

On the palate, it’s crisp with tastes of grass, bread, and touch of bitter spice. It’s a smooth taste that is perfect to pair with a lot of different foods. You could do with burgers, steak, barbecue chicken, Thai food, or grilled cheese with bacon.

Stella Artois is one of the best selling Belgian beers. It’s definitely a beer people are passionate about, either they love it or hate it. I say it’s a nice light beer that’s versatile with food. Another bonus, it’s also easy find so you can sip it any time you have the urge. Cheers!
