Bruja On Books: The Cocktail Guide To The Galaxy

Are you a geek or nerd that loves a good cocktail? There’s finally a book that mixes the best things in life: nerds and booze. “The Cocktail Guide To The Galaxy” by Andy Heidel brings the worlds together in a unique and must have book for thirsty geeks and those who love us.

Heidel is the owner of The Way Station, a Dr. Who themed bar, in Brooklyn, New York. It’s been voted as one of the best sci-fi bars and it even has a TARDIS bathroom. I have a confession, I’ve never made it to The Way Station. I’m a huge geek girl so I will have to change that.

If you are like me and don’t make it to Brooklyn that often (or never) the guide will help bring sci-fi themed cocktails to your home. There are over 100 recipes to play with including some tips and anecdotes from Heidl.

Some of the cocktails in the book include:

  • Guardians of The Galaxy-  I Am Root

  • Star Wars- Leia’s Metal Martini

  • Blade Runner- Blade Rummer

  • Firefly- Captain Tight Pants

  • Game of Thrones- George R. R. Martin

  • Conan the Barbarian-Cognac the Barbarian

Those are just several of the themed cocktails that you will be able to make with the guide. The recipes have been tested by bartenders and regulars of The Way Station. What’s so great is that the cocktails are easy to make. Some cocktail books have usual ingredients which is all good, it’s but exhausting trying to find everything. It takes the fun out of making drinks. Sometimes a quick and dirty drink is the way to go.

The Cocktail Guide To The Galaxy is a must have even you are new to the geek game.  Imagine binging your favorite sci-fi show and sipping a geekalicious cocktail? You will be so glad that you did. Cheers!
