I always love to sip a little wine when I’m making magick in the kitchen. Sometimes that same wine gets used in what I’m conjuring up.
If you are a fan of burgers, next time you are in the mood for one, try making a Merlot burger. While I suggest Merlot wine, you can of course use whatever red wine that you like. It shouldn’t be an expensive wine ( you will want to keep that for drinking). A simple table wine will do the trick.
This burger is perfect to make when you feel like having a night in. It makes for delicious comfort food. Enjoy!
2 cups of Merlot wine
2 Tbsp brown sugar
1 lb lean ground beef
1 medium slicing tomato, cut into 1/2 inch slices
Slices of cheese (cheddar or muenster)
Preheat your grill pan to medium-high.
In a medium saucepan over high heat, combine the wine and brown sugar, stirring until dissolved.
Let boil and reduce to 6 Tbsp. This will take about ~25 minutes. Let cool to room temp, ~10 minutes.
In a medium bowl, crumble ground beef and season with salt, pepper, and a couple dashes of balsamic vinegar.
Add 1/4 cup of red wine reduction and lightly toss to mix.
Form burger patties.
Drizzle tomato slices with olive oil and season with salt and pepper.
Place burgers and tomatoes on the grill pan. Grill the burgers to desired taste
Top with a slice of cheese and remove from the grill pan.
Place on a burger bun, drizzle the remaining red wine reduction over the burgers, and top
