I was invited for a cognac pub crawl preview for the first-ever Cognac Classics Week featuring Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège which runs from July 14th-July 21st. The theme for the week is Harmony. Mastered from Chaos. I’m the kinda gal who loves a good cocktail so I was thrilled to get my crawl on.
Hennessy V.S.O.P Privilège is an ultra-premium blend and the world’s first Very Superior Old Pale Cognac, which established the category in 1817. The same recipe for the cognac is still used today. The drink was commissioned by King George IV of England, making it elegant and luxurious enough for the thriving cocktail culture in New York City,
Some of the stops that we stopped by during the crawl were:
This new spot is owned by Giuseppe González. The pub feels like a classic city pub even though it’s only been open a few weeks. When he revealed that he made a decision to always have good cognac at the bar, I knew he was my kind of guy. Suffolk Armswill feature the, Golden Sazerac, made with Hennessy VSOP Privilège, Peychaud’s bitters, Lyle’s Golden Syrup and grenadine. I loved every minute of it.
Sanatorium:
This is probably going to be my new hangout. Sanatorium is the hottest new bar on the Lower East Side. It offers a sensual experience to anyone who walks through its doors. They will be offering the Saffron Sazerac featuring a mix of Hennessy V.S.O.P. Privilège, Doc Herson’s Green absinthe, Peychaud’s bitters, sugar and Persian Sargol saffron. I enjoyed this unique cocktail, the saffron adds a special touch.
During Cognac Classics Week, 25 bartenders are going to show off what they can do with Hennessy VSOP. You can visit any one of the 25 bars in New York to treat yourself to a bold and original cognac cocktail. Whether you’re craving a new take on a familiar favorite or want to sip something surprising, a perfect classic cocktail made with Hennessy is being poured in New York.
